Coaching Qualifications
Mike Whitehouse, BFC director of coaching, is an England Fencing Coach Educator and also lead tutor for both the BFA and England Fencing. He is overseeing the continuing development of BFC's newly qualified coaches.
Clubmark Certification
Thanks to a lot of work by Roger Simmonds, the club has now been accredited with Clubmark! This evidences our commitment to quality teaching and training for all.
Competition Updates
BFC has been strongly represented at a number of competitions over the last few months. BFC fencers made up 3 teams for the West Midlands' President's Cup. This included some of our junior members who had a great time at the competition.
BFC fencers excelled at the Warkwichshire Senior Championships in all 3 weapons, and our Juniors did well and learnt a lot at the Warwichshire County Age Group events. Some also took part in the British Youth Campionship Qualifiers event, and Sarah Gulley, Ben Airey, Joe Crowther and Dan Johnson have gone through to the finals at the prestigeous Sheffield EIS.
We would like to thank the organisers for giving up their weekends to run these events, which provided us with a lot of competitive fencing!

If you are thinking of attending a competition but don't have transport, please ask one of the coaches as there is probably a club member who can give you a lift.
Birmingham International Fencing Tournament 2012
BFC members will be assisting with the Birmingham International Fencing Tournament, which will run over the Easter weekend on the 7th and 8th of April.
